Timeline that understands dependencies

Dependency arrows show which task blocks the next milestone. Move a task, dependent successors slide along automatically. Milestone diamonds mark checkpoints — rendered as native SVG.

Zoom levels

Day, week, month — no reload

Three zoom levels adapt bar density to the planning horizon. Zoom to day for the weekly standup, to month for the quarterly plan. No reload, no context switch.

  • Day zoom: bars per day, task labels visible
  • Week zoom: five days per column, default for operational planning
  • Month zoom: milestones prominent, for quarterly reviews
  • Scroll position is preserved when zooming

Dependencies

Circular dependencies are blocked

If task B waits for task A, and task A is suddenly meant to depend on task B: lumen.pmo prevents creation. You get a clear error message, not a deadlock.

  • Graph check on save — not first on Gantt render
  • Visual arrows with status colours (met, open, blocked)
  • Cascade shift optional: a predecessor shift moves successors with it
  • Export of the dependency graph as JSON or CSV

What makes the timeline work

  • Milestone diamonds

    Checkpoint markers with due date and status. One click opens the milestone detail view.

  • Task hierarchies

    Subtasks are rendered indented and collapsible. Parent tasks aggregate the progress of their children.

  • Progress bars

    Bar fill shows completion percent. Red when overdue, grey for draft, teal for in progress.
